After a very successful 2 1/2 years on etsy, they closed my shop! They won’t discuss anything with me, and the only phone number I can find for them has been disconnected. The email I received from them is the same canned email they’ve sent many others that basically says that they closed my shop, won’t reopen it, that I can’t open a new shop with them and that they won’t answer any more of my emails!!!! I had all of my inventory on etsy which was stupid on my part, because I knew better than to put all of my eggs in one basket so to speak.
Etsy was easy to use & they branded themselves very well so I didn’t have to work hard to find customers, they just came to me. I hated telling people “no” so my inventory kept getting bigger and bigger… The bad thing is that it ended up devoting most of my time so not only have I lost my etsy shop, I’ve lost most of my income!!!
It’s hard not to let this get me down, so I’m going to focus my time to improving this website (which is my very own site) and adding more inventory here. Please let me know if you are looking for one of my etsy items and I’ll be happy to list it here. In the meantime, please keep my family in your prayers.
Two weeks later:
It’s been two weeks now since I lost my etsy shop. Yes, there’s life after etsy, but it’s not easy. In the past two weeks, I’ve reopened my artfire shop, created a bonanza shop, an ebay shop & increased my inventory on zazzle. I’m also increasing my inventory here. I was fortunate to have most of my previous customers email addresses so there’s still hope after etsy. I’m working on emailing all my old clients to tell them what happened and how they can find me. I’ve had three sales in the past two weeks and have worked very hard to get them. I hope to increase that number drastically by my next update in two weeks.
Please leave me a comment if you have any tips on increasing sales without etsy.
One Month Later:
Not much has changed, I’ve increased my inventory in all of my shops and redesigned my website. I’ve had a lot of time to think about everything and have decided the best thing I can do is work on my own website. I love making party decor and don’t want the fate of my business depending upon other site owners / employees. I’ll keep all of my other shops, but my main focus will be this website and how to market it. I’d love for my site to be the next karaspartyideas.com or catchmyparty.com.
